The affable Larry Gilmer and dogged Joey DiPiazza shared Dove Men+Care's 2015 Caring Coach of the Year Award, and we set out to honor them. These short docs allowed us to not only delve into their lives as football coaches but appeal to their caring side with an element of surprise. My partner and I set the stage for this to happen, but on the ground we had to conduct scores of interviews and plant “moles,” so to speak, to ensure we captured the heart of each story. A wonderful challenge.
